Council gives green light for funding dollars

Council also approved an application for $500 from Rimbey Exhibition Association for its 2012 Rodeo. Council also granted a request from Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Rimbey for $500 for its Bowl for Kids’ Sake Fundraiser, and the Rimbey Art Club for $500 for the Alberta Culture Days Art Show to be held in September.

A total of $1.434 million in building permits were issued in Rimbey as of June 30. These include three new residential permits for $960,000 and five residential renovations for $68,000.

One new commercial building permit for $160,000 has been issued and three commercial renovations totalling $56,000 has been issued.

A total of $20,000 in institutional renovations has been issued and two new industrial building permits valued at $170,000 have been issued.

The Town of Rimbey has received $8,000 from the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks, and Wildlife Foundation for The Nesting Place RV Park. The Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation receive an annual allocation from the Alberta Lottery Fund, as well as support from the private and corporate sectors.

Rick Kreklewich, director of community services, reports the department is working on acquiring space at the Rimbey Provincial Building for the Out-of-School Care program.

“Having our own space for this program is idea as it can be used solely by the program, thus eliminating set up times and scheduling around others.”

The public works department hauled 50 yards of crushed concrete to Legacy Court II to help with the road conditions there.

Public works built a pad for the E-Waste container at the recycle depot.
