Council agreed to move its next meeting to July 17 from July 15 as Coun. Paul Payson will still be on holidays and Coun. Scott Ellis will also be away. Neither Payson nor Ellis attended the June 24 meeting.
Grant to support road work
Mayor Sheldon Ibbotson received a letter from Alberta Transportation Minister Ric Mciver stating the town is to receive a grant of $139,102 under the Federal Gas Tax Fund. The funding is to go toward reconstruction work on 53 Avenue between 51st and 52nd Streets.
Returning officers appointed
Executive assistant Kathy Blakely is to be the returning officer and assistant CAO Melissa Beebe to be the deputy returning officer for the municipal election held Oct. 21. Advance polls will be Wed., Oct. 9 and Sat. Oct. 12.
