The heavens opened up over Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church July 20 and a large hailstorm caused plenty of damage.

Pastor Barry Klassen doesn’t know how much the damages will amount to but has informed church officials responsible for the buildings.

Trees on the property were broken and the garden, singles and siding were also wrecked. “On our Sunday School building three windows were broken,” said Klassen.

Klassen is thankful there was no flooding to follow the storm. “There was lots of hail but not that much rain.”

“As nasty as the storm was I can’t imagine what the people in Calgary and High River are going through. We lose a garden and some plants — they lost their houses,” he added.

The week after the storm, the church held its Vacation Bible School and schedules didn’t have to be rearranged to accommodate Mother Nature’s wrath.
