Rimbey FCSS is back for another year with the Kitz 4 Kidz program, a program that collects needed school supplies for students in both Rimbey and Bluffton.

“People just phone in, give us the age of their kids and we have baskets set up in different stores throughout town for people to donate. What we don’t get then we go out and buy, and then we put the backpacks together for kids that have phoned in,” said Kathy Maconochie, executive assistant and educator with Rimbey FCSS.

FCSS gets the school list from each of the schools, and according to what’s on the school list for what grade they are in, that’s what they put in the backpack. Examples include binders, paper, notebooks, glue, Kleenex and more.

Families can come and pick up the bags once they are ready.

“We don’t ask for qualifications. Whoever phones in gets one.”

Those interested in donating can do so by dropping off various school items in baskets found around town. Any extra supplies that aren’t used this year, get donated to the schools for extra supplies or are saved for next year’s program.

There is no cut off date for donations, and items donated will be organized into a backpack by the staff at Rimbey FCSS.

Parents wishing to collect a bag for their child or children can contact Rimbey FCSS at 403-843-2030.
