The Rimbey Lions Club is starting off 2019 by helping to restock the shelves at the Rimbey Food Bank.

The club is working in partnership with Evergreen Co-op.

“After the hampers were filled and delivered over the Holiday Season, the food supplies have dwindled at the Food Bank, and there is still a long year ahead,” said Lions member Dave Leshchyshyn.

Lions Clubs International has proclaimed January 2019 as ‘Hunger Awareness Month’, taking on a devastating situation around the world. Poor nutrition contributes to the death of three million children every year. Close to a billion people go hungry every day. Lions Clubs battle hunger daily, both around the world, and in their own communities.

The restocking the shelves event in Rimbey will take place on Friday, Jan. 25 and Sat., Jan. 26.

During this time, the community can help out while doing their grocery shopping at Evergreen Co-op. Shoppers can purchase some items to donate to the Food Bank, purchase already bagged items from the Co-op, or leave a cash donation. To make shopping easier, Rimbey Lions members will hand out a shopping list of needed items at the Food Bank.

“Donations of any size will be greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps,” said Leshchyshyn.

The Rimbey Lions Club, Evergreen Co-op, and the Rimbey Food Bank thank the community and surrounding area for their generosity in the past.

Projects such as restocking the shelves will ensure that the Rimbey Food Bank can continue their service in our community. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community.
