A new physician is bringing improved access to care to local and area residents.

Dr. Jude Unuafe is a general practice physician (GP) working from the Rimbey Care Centre and from the Rimbey Medical Clinic at 5046 49th Ave. He is accepting new patients and can be reached at 1-403-843-2256.

With Dr. Unuafe’s arrival, Rimbey now has seven physicians practising in the community.

“The arrival of a new GP is wonderful news,” said Jason Nixon, MLA for Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre. “Dr. Unuafe and his family are a welcome addition to the community and he is sure to be a great asset to Rimbey and the surrounding area.”

Dr. Unuafe received his medical training in Nigeria and previously practiced in Nigeria and South Africa.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit for physicians across Alberta to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities.

They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.
