The main pool and water slide at the Rimbey Aquatic Centre has been shut down temporarily due to a leak in the system.
Recreation director Rick Kreklewich said problems were noticed by the lifeguards on duty last Wednesday for the early morning swim.
“We called our pool company right away as the pool was not filling, it was actually receding and the water level had dropped by about four inches overnight. They did not, however, find any leaks so our next step is to have a diver come in and try to find out where the leak is.”
The pool’s grand opening, scheduled for June 15, has been cancelled until further notice.
Kreklewich is appealing to the public for patience and understanding.
“We are doing everything we can to get the pool up and running as soon as possible,” he said.
The hot tubs are still operational and the spray park may be opened while the main pool is being fixed, he added.
