Quarter horse succumbs to injuries

Staff reporter

An afternoon rollover one-half kilometre west of the intersection of Highways 53 and secondary Highway 771 has resulted in the death of a quarter horse.

According to Rimbey RCMP, the driver of a westbound half-ton truck pulling a horse trailer suddenly caught a soft shoulder, resulting in the trailer rolling into the ditch, injuring the horse.

A Rimbey veterinarian was called to the scene by police, however the horse died before the vet arrived. The driver, whose name was not released, was not injured. The rollover occurred on Sept. 15.
