This week, Rimbey RCMP detachment responded to 78 calls for service. These files include but are not limited to, six break and enters, two assaults, seven suspicious person/vehicle calls, and two impaired driving files.

In the previous two weeks Rimbey RCMP have apprehended six people on outstanding warrants while engaging in proactive patrols. In one case a traffic stop was initiated for failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver was found to have an outstanding warrant from Saskatoon Police Service for two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and two counts of breaching an undertaking. The warrant had been extended from Saskatchewan only to include Alberta. The driver was arrested and remanded into custody. He was ultimately transported to Saskatchewan to deal with these charges. Rimbey RCMP will continue to increase proactive patrols for the purpose of road safety. People with outstanding warrants who are stopped on the road by police may find their day taking an unexpected turn.

On June 18 a concerned citizen phoned the detachment reporting a young child walking all alone. He was seen climbing and playing on the construction equipment near 48th street. A moment later the child was seen walking by the Detachment and was brought inside while an officer attended the home to locate the child’s mother. Detachment staff were just leaving to walk the boy home when the very worried mother phoned saying she could not find her child and was out looking for him, thankfully the child was reunited with his mother unharmed. The young boy had decided to walk up to the store all by himself to buy some Lego.

Rimbey RCMP were dispatched to call for a deceased deer on the road. The complainant was driving home, saw the deceased deer on the road, and wanted it picked up and given a decent burial. The complainant was concerned that who ever hit the deer didn’t have enough respect to take it home and bury it properly. A member made patrols but found no dead deer on the highway.

A large plastic case with jewelry was turned into the detachment. It was found near the four-way stop. There is nothing inside to help identify the owner, but if you are missing something similar and can describe the jewelry please phone the detachment as it looks like the jewelry has sentimental value.
