Police arrested three different wanted persons in the Rimbey area over the weekend. Your local Mounties are committed to keeping our community safe and are targeting all well-known habitual offenders ensuring that they are abiding by all their court ordered conditions. This has resulted in numerous charges being laid for breaching court orders.

A fisherman’s tale

RCMP conducted boat patrols on Gull Lake over the August Long Weekend. Boaters on the lake were checked for valid licenses, safety gear and for impairment. In one case, an angler reported that he had caught a 10-pound walleye which he had allegedly released back into the lake. However, the lucky fisherman did not have a camera with him to capture this great feat on film. One officer considered charging the man, because it has to be criminal to catch a whopper like that and have no picture to prove it!

Thieves mistake diesel for gas

While officers were conducting a foot patrol in one part of town after the midnight hour, bandits hit parked cars in another part of town trying to siphon gas. Reportedly, several vehicles were targeted for gas but one was diesel. Once the thieves realized they were stealing diesel they gave up. The victim in this case, chuckled when reporting this to police because the midnight shoppers had overlooked a full jerry can of gas in the back of the truck they were trying to siphon from.
