Recreation director leaves for Nova Scotia

“I have a passion for mission work and there is a lot of need there.” Peter Stenstrom Recreation Director, Town of Rimbey

Peter Stenstrom, Rimbey’s recreation director will soon be off to pursue a new and challenging career.

Stenstrom, who returned from Africa last year where he worked for Africa Inland Missions at the Rift Valley Academy, will move to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where he will work at Camp Cape Breton Bible Camp as director.

“I have a passion for mission work and there is a lot of need there,” he said. “It is something that I want to pursue long term.”

His year as recreation director in Rimbey has been enjoyable and a learning experience, he said.

“I’ve absolutely enjoyed my time in Rimbey and I have learned so much.”

Expanding the fitness centre, being instrumental in bringing the Boys and Girls Club to town and introducing new programs are among the accomplishments he is most proud of.

“I think we’ve done some really good things here. I truly believe Rimbey is on an upswing. Both councils I’ve worked with are committed to improving Rimbey and willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.”

Stenstrom is married to Ashley and couple has two children; three-year-old Nathan and seven-month-old Luke.
