Rimbey council highlights

Town council agreed to deal with a request from a delegation from the Rimbey Public Library during upcoming budget deliberations. The delegation requested council to set up a reserve building fund to earmark funding for a library expansion. Budget deliberations will begin in January.

Council supports Lions Club rally

Council agreed to reduce the rent paid by the local Lions Club from $900 to $400 for the Rimbey Community Centre for the Lions Northern Annual Leadership Rally Jan. 21 and 22. The event is expected to bring about 200 people to town.

Merry Christmas from council

Council will give municipal employees a Christmas bonus of $50 plus $5 for each full year of service. The town will pay $1,1665 in Christmas bonuses this year.

Rezoning considered

First reading was given to a bylaw rezoning a low density district to high density to make way for a landowner who wishes to build a four-unit condominium on the property.

A public hearing regarding the rezoning will be held Jan. 12 in council chambers
