Car thieves arrested

Last week, we reported that opportunistic thieves were targeting unlocked vehicles. Unbelievably, many citizens did not take heed to those reports and several other vehicles were entered by thieves who stole a large number of wallets, purses, GPS Units, Satellite Radios, expensive tools, watches, cash, and other valuables. Officers conducting late night patrols on foot in plain clothes received a tip from an alert citizen and were able to arrest two adults in the act of stealing from cars in town. Two females, both from Spruce Grove, were caught red handed with several wallets, purses, money and other valuables they had just stolen from unlocked cars. These fine ladies were also in possession of crystal methamphetamine. Both have been charged with multiple counts of theft and for drug possession. Many victims received their stolen property back and will likely not leave valuables in their unattended vehicles again.

Semi and pickup collide

On September 10, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police, EMS and Fire Department personnel responded to a semi-truck vs. a pickup truck collision on Highway 53 at Range Road 41. Miraculously, there were no serious injuries to either driver. The pickup was devastated in the collision. Alcohol was not a factor in the incident and following the extensive investigation, the driver of the semi has been charged. Later, that same evening a pickup truck rolled over on Chubb Road and the driver, a local 59 year old man, survived with only minor non-life threatening injuries. The two deer he swerved to miss are also counting their lucky stars.

Thieves steal John Deere Skid Steer

Sometime in the last two weeks, unknown culprit(s) stole a John Deere Skid Steer from a construction site west of town. Several more copper wire thefts were also reported from oil lease sites. Police are actively investigating these matters.

Mounties respond to domestic disputes

Officers attended several domestic disputes and in one case a man has been charged with assault. In another case, a man has been charged with assault with a weapon. In a separate incident, police quickly responded to a “Donnie Brook” in the Gull Lake area and found two brothers in a fist to cuffs with each other. When their dear mom jumped in to break up the brawl she got smacked as well. Alcohol was a factor and charges are pending in this case.
