There will lots of fun activities to take part in for seniors at the upcoming Rimbey Drop In Centre Fundraising event Sept. 13.
The event is aimed to raise funds for some repairs that need to be done on the exterior of the Drop In Centre.
“We’d like to also raise some money as we’ve recently laid a new floor in the hallway, we have recently replaced the coffee machine and just expenses in general raise every year for us as they do for everyone else,” said Phayrene Altman, director on the board of directors for the Rimbey and District Drop In Centre.
This is an opportunity for seniors to get together and have some lunch and some fun with a variety of games including crib, bridge, pool, darts and more.
Seniors are also encouraged to wear their favourite crazy hat to the event for a crazy hat day.
This is the first year for the event, and if all goes well, Altman said they will try and hold it again next year.
The event starts at 12 p.m. with a potluck, so seniors are encouraged to bring in their favourite dish. There will then be games in the afternoon, along with a silent auction for people to bid on various items.
“The businesses of Rimbey have been very generous,” said Altman.
Most of the activities that take place at the drop-in centre go on all winter. The drop-in centre is also available for rent year-round.
The upcoming event is open to all to attend. Those who have any questions can call Altman at 403-704-0235
