According to unofficial results the Town of Rimbey has a new mayor.
Although the results have not yet been posted on the town's website, Rick Pankiw told the Rimbey Review he was at the polling station to hear the results and he defeated Sheldon Ibbotson by 82 votes garnering 528 votes to the incumbent's 446.
He said he was 'not surprised' at the win.
“I worked hard and people obviously wanted a change.”
Pankiw said he is excited to begin his term as mayor.
“My door is always open and I look forward to serving the citizens of our community.
Ibbotson said he had enjoyed his time in the mayor's chair.
“I'd be happy to help out the new council in any way I can,” he said.
