Rimbey Kinsmen are always giving back to the community. They recently donated $6,000 to the Kids Help Phone, which provides online and telephone counselling to kids across the country.

The cheque was presented at their year end Central Alberta Raceways banquet Oct. 15.

“With the Kids Help Phone, we’ve been doing stuff with them for four or five years. They come to our racetrack events, specifically the mud bogs and the demolition derby’s, and they help out doing a 50/50 raffle and then we donate the proceeds from that and other things to the Kids Help Phone,” said President of Rimbey Kinsmen, Travis Jaffray.

He said that their recent event at Central Alberta Raceways was very well attended. They had three mud bogging events and one demolition derby, which saw racers from all over Alberta and British Columbia come out.

Currently, the Kinsmen are working on planning two big events, one being their annual calendar fundraiser and the other being their Christmas party.

They have been going around to several local businesses to gather advertisements for the calendar and will distribute it to all of the households in Rimbey in December.

Also in December is their ninth annual Christmas party, which will take place Dec. 3.

“We host a Christmas party at the community centre. We’re having a game show entertainment and we encourage businesses to do their Christmas party with us. We provide the meals and entertainment at the venue,” he said.

Jaffray said they are always looking for new members to join and meet the first and third Wednesday of every month.

“We’re just a men’s social club that get together, has a good time and do things for our community.”
