Rimbey RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a local man.

In September, the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CAD CRU) initiated an investigation into a steady increase of theft of motor vehicles, break and enters, other property related crimes, as well as a high number of flight from police incidents throughout the rural areas of Rocky Mountain House, Rimbey, Breton, Thorsby and Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment areas.

Through investigation, a small group of individuals were identified to be responsible for a significant number of these offences. In partnership with Alberta RCMP Air Services; Alberta RCMP Police Dog Service; Alberta RCMP Auto Theft Unit; Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit; Rimbey, Breton and Thorsby Detachments; CAD CRU arrested five individuals who face a combined total of 98 charges.

Trevor Douglas McKay, 28, Shannon Colleen McKay, 62 , Terry Douglas McKay, 63, all of Buck Lake and Burgundy Reeves, 25, of Drayton Valley are jointly charged with multiple offences, including:

· Possession of property over $5,000

· Possession of property under $5,000

· Mischief under $5,000

· Fraudulent concealment

· Possession of a prohibited weapon

· Careless use of a firearm

· Possession of a controlled substance

Trevor McKay was brought before a Justice of the Peace who released him to appear in Breton Provincial Court on Nov. 10, 2021.

Shannon McKay, Terry McKay, Bradley McKay and Burgundy Reeves were released from police custody on an Undertaking to attend Breton Provincial Court on Nov. 10, 2021.

Bradley Roy McKay (37) of Bucklake was charged with two counts of Possession of Property Under $5,000.

Jason Sylvain Roy (34) of Rimbey, Alta. has been charged with:

· Dangerous operation,

· Flight from peace officer,

· Fraudulent concealment,

· Possession of property over $5,000

· Fail to comply with condition of release order

CAD CRU have been unable to locate Jason Roy and a warrant for his arrest has been obtained. and is described as:

· Light complexion

· 5’4” tall, 225 lbs

· Blond hair, blue eyes

Rimbey RCMP are asking anyone with information on the location of Jason Roy to contact the detachment at 403-843-2224.

Upon executing two search warrants in the Breton Detachment area, a total of 19 vehicles, 3 watercraft, 1 motorcycle, 2 snowmobiles, 1 all terrain vehicle and 2 vehicle engines were recovered. These vehicles were in various stages of “tear down” and evidence supports a chop shop operation was dismantled as result of this investigation.

“CAD CRU recognizes the personal impact on the victims, as well as the financial burden these crimes put on rural Albertans and business owners,” says Sgt. Scott Lande, Unit Commander CAD CRU. “CAD CRU will continue to target the individuals that choose to commit crimes throughout Central Alberta and cause undue hardships on rural Albertans.”
