This week, Rimbey RCMP members and staff responded to 47 calls for service.
The vast majority of complaints were motor vehicle collisions, domestics, mental health issues and break and enters.
Sometime between May 19 and 20, someone entered a farmyard near Secondary Highway 611 north of Bluffton and stole cut-off saws, an air compressor, three saddles and a large amount of tack.
Police attended a motor vehicle rollover on the outskirts of Bluffton May 20. The driver had left the scene and was found later at his residence. The male driver, a resident of Bluffton, has been charged with failing to report a collision and was issued a 24-hour driving suspension.
Impaired drivers arrested
Two more impaired drivers were arrested in Rimbey on the weekend. Both were adult males, one from Rimbey and the other from Drayton Valley. Apparently, they missed the thousands of advertisements and stories of why people should not drink and drive at any time — period.
Early in the morning May 27, a 49-year-old man, a resident of the James River area, was killed while working around heavy equipment in the oil field west of Highway 22. Police and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Officers are investigating.
Stolen vehicles recovered
Police located two stolen ATVs this last week. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigations. In each case, unsuspecting buyers had purchased the machines privately and then were found to be in possession of stolen property. If you are going to purchase an ATV, snow machine or other piece of machinery, check the serial number first to see if it is stolen. In most cases, if you pay for it and it is stolen you are out the money and could be arrested for having it in your possession. Check the serial number on www.cpic-cipc.ca, the Canadian Police Information Centre's website that is totally free and available for public use.
