Rimbey town council holds organizational meeting

Rimbey’s new town council and mayor wasted no time getting down to business last Monday.

The organizational meeting, held prior to the council meeting, was brief and committee appointments were quickly ratified.

Mayor Rick Pankiw said council had met with administration previously to discuss appointments.

“All the appointments were decided as a team,” he said.

Pankiw will sit on the bylaw and policy committee, cemetery committee, chamber of commerce, interagency committee and the Rimoka Foundation.

Coun. Jack Webb was appointed as deputy mayor from November until April, 2014. Webb is also the council representative on the bylaw and policy committee, CAEP board, cemetery committee, FCSS board and historical society board.

Coun. Einar Olsen will sit on the Blindman Youth Action Committee, the disaster services committee, the interagency committee, the recreation board and The West Central Planning Agency. He is to serve as deputy mayor from May to October, 2014.

Councillor Mathew Jaycox will sit on the bylaw and policy committee, CAEP Board, Disaster Services Committee, West Central Planning Agency and Rimoka Foundation. He is to serve as deputy mayor from November 2014 to April 2015. Coun. Paul Payson will sit on the disaster services committee, the fire commission, the library board, the recreation board and Rimbey Neighborhood Place.

He is to serve as deputy mayor from May to October, 2015.
