Leaders of Tomorrow
The Board moved to continue its support of the Leaders of Tomorrow program in Wetaskiwin for the 2022 operating year.
Budget 2022
The Board approved the allocation of 1.4 million dollars of unrestricted surplus to offset an anticipated shortfall in the 2022 budget due to lower enrollment because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision is subject to approval by the Minister of Education. The Division will continue to seek out opportunities to advocate that school authorities be held harmless by the Government of Alberta for enrollment-based funding for another school year.
Annual Insurance and Litigation Report
The Board heard an annual Insurance and Litigation Report presented by Administration, which included a summary of Division insurance premiums.
Beaumont Community Consultation Summary
The Board reviewed a summary of feedback gathered during two Beaumont community consultation events held in November. A summary will also be shared with Beaumont families.
Rural Caucus
The Board reviewed challenges currently experienced within the Division’s rural communities and discussed current strategies and potential solutions to address these challenges.
