Town finalizes intent to sell airport

Town council made the decision to move toward the sale of the Rimbey Airport.

Town council made the decision to move toward the sale of the Rimbey Airport following an in-camera discussion at its regular council meeting, July 25.

Mayor Rick Pankiw says approximately two months ago the Town of Rimbey was approached by a group looking to purchase the airport.

The offer was too low for council to accept; it did however spark a discussion from council on whether or not they had an intent to sell the airport.

Earlier this summer the airport was appraised and council set the reserve bid at $125,000.

“The reason we did that, as a council, we had to decide what we’d be satisfied on for the resident of Rimbey,” said Pankiw.
