The Rimbey Chamber of Commerce Trade Fair held at at the Vern Poffenroth arena April 13 and 14 was a great success.

Chamber president Melvin Durand said the booths were all sold and a good crowd attended the event on Friday evening and all day Saturday.

“Overall it was one of the best trade shows we have ever had,” he said. “We sold close to 50 booths and the attendance was was just shy of 600. It was up from last year.”

The majority of the vendors were local business people, but some out of town vendors attended as well.

As well as vendors at the trade show there were attractions such as Combat Archery from Red Deer, the Wood Shed from Sylvan Lake, and the Prairie Dog Sports from Lacombe. Professional World Chuckwagon Racer, Abry Motowylo from Bluffton was also in attendance. Mia’s Face Painting was a popular activity for the younger set.

The Rimbey Lions Club provided supper for all the vendors.

A treasure hunt which allowed visitors to fill out a treasure map at the various vendors proved to also be a popular and fun way for some individuals in the crowd to try for a chance to win some valuable prizes.

A handmade Artisan log table donated by Jacob Snyder of Log Homes & Furniture by Jacob Snyder was won by Pat McNeill. A family pool pass donated by the Rimbey recreation department was won by Bailey Maupin from Rocky Mountain House. A travel mug, pen and flashlight donated by Log Homes & Furniture by Jacob Snyder went to Joy Bruca. A stone fountain donated by Keyera went to Lorraine Scory. A deluxe gift certificate from Alpen Dental (cleaning, electric toothbrush and more) went to Wendy Wienecke.

The Rimbey Chamber of Commerce will partner with Rock ‘n Rimbey to sponsor a street festival coming to town in August.
