UPDATE: Rimbey RCMP investigate fail to remain causing bodily harm

The RCMP collision reconstructionist has been consulted

Ongoing investigation into the previously reported pedestrian collision on June 18th on Bridgeview Road and Canal Street in the area of Meridian Beach has led to more charges by the Rimbey RCMP.

RCMP have determined through witness evidence that the 16-year-old driver and 18-year-old passenger of the vehicle involved switched places.

They are both facing charges of public mischief. Investigation into driving infractions under the Traffic Safety Act is ongoing. The RCMP collision reconstructionist has been consulted.

The male pedestrian, from Calgary, has been charged with one count of assault and has a pending court date of Sept. 2nd, 2020 in Rimbey. Charges have not been sworn and consequently, the male cannot be named.

“This situation was escalated from the outset and as a result people were unnecessarily injured and scared,” says Sergeant Pierre St-Cyr, Detachment Commander of Rimbey. “When the public has safety concerns, call 911 and let the RCMP manage the situation.”
