That’s what the food bank is for

Someone may have been hungry or simply had a desire to destroy what someone else had planted, but whatever the reason, two community vegetable gardens were ransacked last week.

“Last Friday evening, Aug. 2, someone helped themselves to vegetables planted in the community garden boxes,” said Marion Repas. “A lady’s peas and carrots are gone and a gentleman’s crop of potatoes. These folks have watered, weeded and tended their flats only have them stolen. They hope someone enjoyed their produce,” said Marion Repas from Rimbey & District Horticulture Group.

The community garden consists of about 12 raised garden beds that are available for people to plant their choice of vegetables of flowers in. The gardens are a great way to promote community and help families and individuals keep the cost of food down, while enjoying healthy, home grown vegetables.
