Everyone is invited to attend this gathering at the Beatty Heritage House at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 4th. A short ceremony of remembrance will take place around the outdoor fireplace, followed by a social time with light refreshments indoors.

This Vigil has become an annual event hosted by the Rimbey Group of Amnesty International, in support of the Sisters in Spirit (SIS) initiative, launched in 2004 by the Native Women’s Association of Canada. The purpose of SIS is to raise awareness of the high rates of violence against aboriginal women and girls in our country; and to provide support to the families of those who have lost a loved one through violence. Actions in support of SIS may be in the form a vigil, a rally, a workshop, a walk, or a moment of silence. The Vigil here in Rimbey is one of more than 200 gatherings across Canada, including one on Parliament Hill.

Please join us at the Beatty House on October 4th if you wish to learn more about this national tragedy of ongoing violence, and stand in solidarity with those who are suffering as a result of the violence.
