After seeing a significant slowdown in calls for service the week before, the officers of the Rimbey RCMP were kept hopping with 50 calls for service from Dec. 8 to Dec. 15.
As has been the trend of late, the majority of the Rimbey detachment’s time has been spent on the roads and highways in and around the municipality.
In the last week, officers have issued 10 tickets, responded to nine animal versus vehicle collisions, three complaints of suspicious vehicles, two vehicle versus vehicle collisions, and dealt with two drivers who were impaired or refused to comply with mandatory roadside testing.
Alberta drivers are reminded of impaired driving roadside sanctions in the province that are more stringent than those of the criminal code, which charges can also be laid.

For criminal matters, officers were a lot less busy responding to two complaints of uttering threats, two complaints of mischief, two complaints of theft and one break-and-enter.
As far as routine policing that doesn’t fall into traffic or criminal code enforcement, officers provided assistance to the general public five times and dealt with the same number of lost-and-found items.
