The officers of the Rimbey RCMP detachment have been getting a bit of a chance to catch their breath with a recent slowdown in calls.

Between Oct. 6 and Oct. 13, the officers in the Rimbey detachment responded to 29 calls for service; down from nearly 60 a few weeks ago during summer.

In the break-down of statistics released Oct. 13, no single category shows more than occurrences, though the biggest jump from the previous report is in traffic violations.

Traffic violations jumped from one the previous reporting period to three during the current period. Elsewhere on the roads and highways surrounding Rimbey, the RCMP responded to one traffic collision, one collision involving an animal and three reports of suspicious people or vehicles.

In criminal code matters, officers investigated two assaults, two reports of mischief, two reports of break-and-enter, three reports of theft and one report of fraud or extortion.

For policing matters that don’t fall under criminal code or traffic, officers provided general public assistance once, assisted with one mental health-related call, and conducted one well being check.

To report a crime in the Rimbey area, minor issues can be reported through the RCMP app, available on all Apple and Android devices, or by calling the 24-hour non-emergency line at 403-843-2223.

If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.p3tips.com or via the P3 Tips app, also available on apple and Android devices.

In the case of emergency, call 911.
