REISER

It is with great sadness that we announce that Albert Jack Reiser of Bluffton, Alberta passed away peacefully on October 22, 2016 at the age of 85 years, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jack was born June 12, 1931 in Vernon, BC to Jack and Margaret Reiser, and moved to the Bluffton area with his family as a young boy. Jack was united in marriage to Mary McDonnell on December 24, 1955, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. They lived in Rimbey, and Winfield before settling onto the farm at Bluffton, where they raised their family of three sons.

Jack attended schools in Lavesta and Bluffton. He began his work life with a variety of jobs before settling into his lifelong career of mixed farming. He was especially proud of his herd of Charolais cattle. He worked hard, with Mary always by his side. Jack was actively farming until illness required him to retire in 2015, following his last haying season with his sons, on the farm where he grew up. Many in the Bluffton area will remember Jack as their school bus driver, safely delivering children to and from school for over 30 years. Jack loved people, visiting and making new friends wherever he went. He spoke fondly of the good life he had and was so proud of his family. He was thrilled when grandchildren began to arrive, and he took pride in his nine grandsons.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Mary. He was a proud father to his sons; Gordon (Yvonne), Doug (Wendy), Jim (Paula). He was a wonderful grandfather to Danny (Robin), Jeff (Andrea), Mike, Brad (Brenda), Kevin (Sonary), Steven (Amy), Evan (Courtney), Nathan, Ryan and was so happy to welcome ten great grandchildren, (five boys and five girls). Jack will also be missed by his sister Judy (Tim) Thomson, brother Stan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Jack Sr. and Margaret Reiser, brothers, Jim and George, daughter-in-law Donna, sister -in-law Fran and niece Connie.

Memorial services will be held from the Rimbey United Church on Saturday November 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Deborah Laing officiating.

If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Rimbey Hospital Acute Care Unit P.O. Box 440 Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0 or to the Red Deer Cancer Clinic.
