JONES

Mr. Albert Stanley "Stan" Jones of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the age of 101 years. Stan was born in Llanymawddwy, Wales on November 20, 1907. In the spring of 1928, he immigrated to Canada and settled near Lethbridge, later relocating east of Rimbey. In 1938, Stan went to work for Dick Stawart in the Homeglen District, and it was there that he met his wife, Jessie. Stan and Jessie were united in marriage in 1943, and they continued to live and work on the farm until 1951, when they purchased the family farm, and Jessie's parents moved to an acreage. They sold the farm and retired to Rimbey in 1974. Stan was actively involved in the community, and was one of many who helped build the Homeglen Hall. There was always time to visit the neighbours and to help out when needed. Stan enjoyed curling and fishing, and he was always ready for a game of cards, whether it was cribbage, five-hundred or whist. He also enjoyed watching hockey on TV. Another serious passion was morning coffee at the Smithson Truck Museum. Stan will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughter, Gwen Boyce of Bluffton; his grandchildren, Shauna Boyce of Spruce Grove; Shannon Boyce-Campbell of Rimbey; and Steven (Teri) Boyce of Bluffton; as well as four great grandchildren, Sam and Owen Campbell; and Ben and Jenna Boyce. He will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews in both Canada and Wales. Stan was predeceased by his wife, Jessie in 2008; one brother in Canada; and his parents, two brothers, and two sisters in Wales. A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Stan's Life will be held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. A Private Family Interment Service will take place in the Forest Home Cemetery, Ponoka at 10:00 a.m. Cremation took place in Red Deer, Alberta. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Stan's Memory may be made directly to the Rimbey Historical Society/International Truck Museum, Box 813, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Area Three, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; or to the charity of one's choice.
