POLUSHIN, Alexander

On February 8, 2012, Alexander Polushin passed away peacefully in Edmonton.


Born in Homeglen, Alberta on September 10, 1924, Alexander was predeceased by his parents, Vladimir and Paraskeva, and brothers, Mitchell and Vena. He will be remembered by his wife of 53 years, Aileen; children, Katherine (Leslie Fenwick), Michael (Wendy Kasinec), Sandra (Dan Collins), William (Archita Ghosh), Paul, and Andre (Clarissa); grandchildren, Erinne, Sean, Sheamus, Sophie, Leela, Nayan, and Saurav; brothers-in-law, Robert (Mikki) and Barry; sisters-in-law, Annie, Pat (Dick) and Kay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.


During his professional career, Alexander spent 35 years of distinguished service with the Department of National Defence (DND) and Transport Canada as a Radar Specialist. Over his life, and until his death, he also maintained the family farm in Homeglen.


A Celebration of Alexander's life took place in the Mayflower Reception Lounge at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012.


In lieu of flowers, Alexander's family welcomes donations to any worthy charity in his memory.


The family wishes to thank the Homecare Palliative Care staff, University Area, and the Palliative Care staff in Mel Miller Hospice 9Y wing of the Edmonton General Hospital for their outstanding support and kindness.
