SCHUTZ., Allan Charles

April 11, 1923 - May 8, 2011

Allan passed away peacefully following a short-term illness, at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by loving wife of 51 years, Grace. Survived by daughters Loa ( Jim) and Maureen ( Les) and cherished grandchildren Steven, Michael and Lindsay. Also survived by older brother Fred and younger sister Dorothy, nephew Allan and nieces, Carol and Donna, all whom he loved dearly, Allan was born near Bluffton, Alberta and although he lived most of his life in B.C., he looked forward to his regular trips home to the farm each year. After serving as an RCAF Mosquito Navigator during WWII, he graduated from UBC in 1950 and enjoyed his career with the B.C. Forest Service. He was a dedicated birdwatcher, naturalist, conservationist, photographer and painter. An avid adventurer, Allan travelled the world and particularly loved his trips with his family and his numerous travels to Africa with his dear friend, David Skillan. Allan loved life and lived it to the fullest. He added greatly to the quality of all of our lives and will be deeply missed. A Memorial Sevice to celebrate Allan's life was held on June 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Marpole United Church, 1296 W. 67th Ave. at Hudson St. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Allan's favorite charity, the Nature Conservancy of Canada or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
