GRUMBACH

March 25, 1918 ~ March 26, 2010

Mrs. Alvina Grumbach of Rimbey, Alberta, passed away peacefully following a long and productive life, at the Bentley Care Centre, Bentley on Friday, March 26, 2010, one day after celebrating her 92nd birthday. Alvina was born in Estuary, Saskatchewan on March 25, 1918. She moved to the Rimbey area with her family in 1935, where she has resided for the remainder of her life. Alvina was united in marriage to Rudolph Joseph Grumbach in 1938, and together they raised three children. Alvina was renowned for her very large vegetable garden and her raspberry patch. She was very active with the Anglican Church Women, the Symonds Ladies Club, Pas-Ka-Poo Historical Park, and the Beatty Heritage House Society. "We shall all remember Alvina with admiration and love." Alvina will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three children, Edward (Mhairi) Grumbach of Bentley; Alvin (Sylvia) Grumbach of Spruce Grove; and Doreen (George) Badger of Stony Plain. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by eight grandchildren, Ian (Marina), Cameron (Yvonne), Gary (Roxanne), Rachelle (Jim), Raymond (Amanda), James (Shawna), Michael and Andrew; twelve great grandchildren, John (Liana), Jacqueline (Blane), Jessie, Alyssa, Victoria, Kyle, Ryan, Nicholas, Aliana, Nathaniel, Luke and Sierra; three great, great grandchildren, Brody, Shayne, and Lucas; as well as her brother, Edgar Schimpf; two sisters-in-law, Katie Schimpf and Ethel Schimpf; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and her many friends in the Rimbey area. Alvina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rudolph in 1961; seven brothers; and four sisters. The Family wishes to extend very special thanks to all of the staff of the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre and the Bentley Care Centre, where Alvina spent the past three months. A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Alvina's Life was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rimbey on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend David Holmes officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Rimbey. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Alvina's Memory may be made directly to the Beatty Heritage House Society, Box 675, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; to the Anglican Church of the Epiphany, Box 199, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; or to the charity of one's choice.
