Mr. Arthur Ernest Hodges of Gull Lake, Alberta passed away suddenly near Rimbey, Alberta on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the age of 66 years. Art was born in Calgary on January 13, 1946. He spent his career in the trucking industry; first with Sears, later as a long haul owner/operator for Burns Foods Transport, among others, finally converting his semi to a gravel truck with Burnco. Art was renowned among his family and friends for his teasing and unique sense of humour. He loved driving, riding his quad with his puppy Gizmo, camping, and trips to Arizona. Art was also very creative, and designed and built their retirement home at Gull Lake.

Art will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Carol; his sister, Pat (Jerry) Markin of Hudson’s Hope, B.C.; eleven treasured nieces and nephews; in addition to many other relatives and a host of friends. Art was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Mary; his brothers, Mervyn and Gordon; his sister-in-law, Jean; and his nephew, Kenny.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Art’s Life was held at the McInnis & Holloway Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. A Gathering of Family and Friends in Art’s Honour will also take place at the Forshee Hall, Rimbey on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
