The children of Mrs. Betty Fay Butcher of Rimbey, Alberta, formerly of Lacombe, wish to announce the passing of their beloved mother on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Betty passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Long Term Care at the age of 83 years.


Betty was born on December 15, 1927 in Birtle, Manitoba. She was united in marriage to her life companion, Jack Butcher on November 11, 1948.


"You gave us so much.

Your memories were taken from you by a cruel, unrelenting disease,

but your memory will be ours forever."


Betty will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Chuck (Dee) Butcher of Prince George, B.C.; John Butcher of Nisku; and Dr. Marshall (Colleen) Butcher of Ladysmith, B.C.; and her loving daughter, Sherrie (Mel) Gorday of Rimbey; as well as nine so-loved grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She will also be leaving loving memories for her sister, Bernice (Ron) Dalton; and her brother, Jerry Bain, all of Edmonton; her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jerry Butcher of Red Deer; in addition to many loved nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty was predeceased by her so-loved and missed husband, Jack; her son, Georgie; her parents; four brothers; and a very-loved sister.


Relatives and friends were cordially invited to a Time of Fellowship and Refreshments in Betty's Honour which was held at the home of Sherrie and Mel Gorday, Parkland Beach, Alberta on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Betty's Memory may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society Of Alberta, Edmonton Division, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5H 4K1.
