HANSEN, Bud Carl

May 18, 1933 - June 14, 2010

Bud Carl Hansen was born May 18, 1933 to Carl and Mandi Hansen in Rimbey, Alberta. Bud's dad, Carl loved to nickname his children, Bud got hung with HOOT which stayed with him all his life. Even his grandchildren knew him as HOOT. He was raised in the Rimbey area and attended Bluffton school, until life adventures became more important. He married Frances Hootnik in the mid 1950's and tragically lost her in a car accident. Bud then collected himself and did what he was known to do best, dust himself off and get back doing what he loved best, cat skinning. He soon met the love of his life Laura Druar, and they married in 1962 in Edmonton, Alberta with the wedding in Edmonton, the reception in Blue Ridge and the dance in Bluffton. That is what was unique about HOOT. He made sure he never missed or left anyone out. Bud and Laura settled along the Homeglen Road nicknamed HOOTERVILLE, where they were blessed with two children, Don and Jody. Bud was well known for always having room for a family member be it his or Laura's or a friend who needed a place to stay. He was a very hardworking man when he wasn't building roads, clearing land or trucking, he was having fun. Bud and Laura retired in Qualicum Beach in 1983, where he bought a charter boat, called if you hadn't guessed

"HOOT'S CHARTERS". Of course he was the captain and Laura the Deck hand. A serious injury shortened Captain Bud's career in 1999 and so he sold the boat to do some extensive travelling, throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S.A. Home base was always Qualicum Beach. At home Bud loved to clear and cut his yard of everything except the grass that was the deck hands job.

Bud was predeceased by his first wife Frances Hansen, his parents Carl and Mandi Hansen, and his brother, Walter Hansen. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 48 years Laura, his son Don and Cindy and their children Shayna, Marlo and Carly and great granddaughter Khloe. His daughter Jody, her children Carrie and Ian Aumack and their children Shayla, Trey and Aiden. Daughter Sherrie and her children Breanne, Nakita and Kendra and son Morgan and brother Melvin (Buck) and Melody Hansen and family, and extended family and friends too numerous to mention. A Memorial was held at Hoadley Hall, June 29, 2010 @ 1 p.m.
