March 29, 1937 - November 29, 2020
It is with great sadness that we share the news of Grant Harris's peaceful passing at the Rimbey Hospital on November 29, 2020 at the age of 83.
Grant was born to Irl and Daisy Harris in Crossfield, Ab on March 29, 1937. After his father Irl passed away Daisy married Les Worke and the family moved to Red Deer, Ab.
Grant graduated from Lindsay Thurber High School and then went on to join the RCMP. He then decided to change careers and became involved in the meat industry; eventually becoming a Federal Meat Inspector.
Upon his retirement Grant moved to his farm by Hoadley, Ab for 25 years. He still enjoyed butchering and also began to act in The Liberty Hall Plays for many years which he loved participating in.
He was married once to Janice Skogman and while they were married had 2 children; Brent and Ellen Harris. Even though they eventually divorced; they always were actively involved in one another's lives. He had other special friends over the years that also enriched his life that he appreciated very much.
Grant was predeceased by his father Irl; mother Daisy; stepfather Les; his son Brent; his sisters Sally and Iris; his brothers Clarence,Dave and Royce; brother in law Curtis; and sister in law Wendy.
Grant will be greatly missed by his daughter Ellen McCoy (Donivan); his sister Jean Richards; his brother Bruce (Marie) Worke; his brother Larry (Charlotte) Dwyer; his grandchildren Brad (Natasha) Harris; Jessie (Tanner) Sayer; Skylar McCoy; Kayl McCoy; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also had many great friends and neighbours that meant the world to him.
Grant and his family would like to thank all the staff at the Rimbey Hospital during his time there. They were amazing with him. And special thanks to Dr. Bure.
We would also like to thank the Valleyview manor staff and home care staff at the manor; that made his years there feel like home.
If anyone wishes to make a donation in Grants memory; The Liberty Hall Society would be Grants choice in honour of their great commitment to the arts through their annual play.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic there will be no Service at this time.
