CARTIER


Clarice Irene Cartier of Winfield, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the age of 82 years.


She was born Clarice Irene Nelson, one of nine siblings at the family home. She attended school at Pendryl, Alberta, and upon finishing school went to work at the Beuer Boarding House in Winfield. In 1947, Clarice was united in marriage to Alfred Cartier. They lived on the farm west of Winfield where together they raised nine children and shared 56 years of marriage. Most of her time was spent with the children and helping out on the farm. Clarice was an amazing mother and an amazing cook, and she loved to play guitar, dance, and travel. She also took great pleasure in being a part of the Conroy Ladies Club of the Pendryl and Winfield area.


"Clarice was a beautiful, warm, and genuine daughter, sister, wife, mother,

grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed."


Clarice will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her four sons, Ted (Aline) Cartier of Millet; Wade (Marlene) Cartier of Falun; Rocky (Candace) Cartier of Winfield; and Mark (Geraldine) Cartier of Lloydminster; and four daughters, Betty Mirich (Barry Merris) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Susan (Rick) Baumann of Yeoford; Peggy (Blaine) Gustafson of Breton; and Terri (Marion) Fries of Winfield; as well as twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-nine great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her brother, Willard Nelson of Edmonton; and her sister, Ingrid MacIntosh of Innisfail; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Clarice was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Bessie Nelson; her beloved husband, Alfred in 2003; her daughter, Yvonne Rhine; three brothers; and three sisters.


A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Clarice's Life was held at the Winfield Community Centre, Winfield on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father James Bodula, SAC officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Clarice's Memory may be made directly to the charity of one's choice.
