Mrs. Cora Elnora Littau of
Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the
Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on
Monday, August 29, 2005 at the age of
89 years.
Cora Severtson was born on
August 21, 1916 at Enchant, Alberta.
She was one of ten children, and attended school at Enchant.
Cora later went to Bible College at Camrose. Her strong
Christian faith carried her through her life as a real example
to family and friends. Unfortunately, Cora’s college time
was cut short, as her mother passed away suddenly at the age
of 44 years. She then went home to help her father raise
three younger sisters; by doing the sewing, cooking and
mothering. On April 13, 1948, Cora was united in marriage
to Abraham Littau, and together they raised two children.
Cora and Abe farmed in the Condor, Red Deer, Ponoka and
Rimbey areas.
Cora will be lovingly remembered by her son, Doug
(Elaine) Littau of Rimbey; her daughter, Ione (Brian)
Butterfield of Stettler; as well as seven grandchildren, three
step-grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She will
also be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Pearl Olafson of
Brooks; Ruby Koller of Calgary; Vivian Kretz of Okotoks;
her sisters-in-law, Ruth Severtson of Innisfail; Madeline
Severtson of Red Deer; Margaret Bechtold of Lethbridge;
Jess Dell of Eckville; Ann Henniger of Calgary; and her
brothers-in-law, Ed (Frances) Littau of Haynes; Hank Littau
of Surrey, B.C.; and Will (Lynn) Littau of Kelowna, B.C.; in
addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Cora
was predeceased by her husband, Abe in 2001; and numerous
other family members.
A Family Graveside Service in Celebration of Cora’s
Life was held at the Forest Home Cemetery, Ponoka on
Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave
Schumacher officiating. If friends desire, memorial tributes
in Cora’s Memory may be made directly to the Tribal Trails,
Box 3030, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan S6V 7V4; or to the
Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Palliative Care, Box
