Corey Walsh of Rimbey, Alberta passed away suddenly at Rimbey on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the age of 15 years.
Corey was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on February 2, 1995. At the age of three years, together with his dad, his mom and his brother, Adam, Corey started his journey across Canada to the small, but wonderful community of Rimbey, Alberta. Over the years, Corey was involved in the school band, playing guitar; and also enjoyed soccer, basketball, and more recently, football. He also took pleasure in reading, listening to music, playing video games, and watching movies. But most of all, Corey loved hanging around with his buddies and his special friend, Katrina. He spent many hours swimming with friends at the local outdoor pool, and he was looking forward to a trip back home to jump off his Aunt's boat into the river. "We will do that for you, Corey!" Corey persevered through several obstacles, but always with a smile and a joke. His humor, love and generous heart has touched the lives of many. "Corey was taken from us far too early. He will be in our hearts and memories forever and ever! Corey, we love you ~ always and forever!" Corey will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his parents, Brian and Cindy Walsh; and his brother, Adam Walsh, all of Rimbey; as well as his special friend, Katrina Smith of Bluffton; his maternal grandmother, Peggy Wilcox of Saint John, New Brunswick; his paternal grandparents, Margaret (David) McCumber of Hampton, New Brunswick; and his step-grandfather, Daryl Fairweather also of Hampton, New Brunswick. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his four uncles, Mark (Janet), Johnny (Susan), Michael (Alice), and Rick (Brenda); three aunts, Sharon (Stephen), Roxanne, and Beth; in addition to numerous cousins and other relatives; and many cherished friends. Corey was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Robert Wilcox; his paternal grandfather, Gerald Walsh; and two uncles, Gerald Jr. and Brent. A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Corey's Life was held at the Rimbey Church of the Nazarene, Rimbey on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Bob Donaldson officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
