BELL

Mr. Donald "Don" J. Bell of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Piper Creek Lodge, Red Deer on Friday, October 29, 2010 at the age of 83 years.

Don was born in Rimbey on September 27, 1927, and was actively involved in his community of Last West and Leedale. He always lent a willing hand to his neighbours; be it harvesting, fighting fires, vet services, shearing sheep, or fundraising for families in need. Don was also known as Santa for over 55 years and brought joy to young and old. Over the years, he was called upon many times to officiate as a Master of Ceremonies for various functions, and to provide entertainment at Christmas concerts. Don enjoyed gardening, birding, hunting, curling, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Don will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his three daughters, Jocelynn (Greg) Pedersen of Sherwood Park; Carlynn (Ian) Ratcliffe also of Sherwood Park; and Audrey Bell (Don Pedersen) of Rimbey; as well as eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his good friend, Bernice Bell of Eckville; his brother-in-law, Ron Maser of Rimbey; in addition to many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his son, Rodney in 1950; one brother, Gordon; and three sisters, Jessie Thompson, Violet Ecker, and Lillian Maser.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Don's Life was held at the Rimbey Community Centre, Rimbey on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Roy Stout hosting. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will follow at a later date in the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Rimbey.
