Born in Newcastle Bridge, New Brunswick to Donald and Ellen Blizzard. At the passing of her mother when Donna was six, she was adopted by her Aunt and Uncle Dot and Perley Flower.
Raised and schooled in Minto NB she graduated high school in 1954. There after she attended the Saint John School of Nursing graduating with her degree in 1957. As she loved to travel she worked in numerous hospitals in NB, Nfld, Ont and AB but always returned home to NB. In 1969 she decided to move out west and worked at the Red Deer General Hospital until 1981.
On a holiday to the Philippines she met her future husband Chester Marek and they were married in 1981. Farm life, working part-time at the Rimbey General Hospital, friends and family kept her busy. She especially loved being "Gramma Donna"to her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Upon retiring from the farm they moved into Rimbey in 1990 where she remained to her passing. Donna was a kind and generous person and will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held from the Zion Lutheran Church in Rimbey, Alberta on Friday July 12, 2019 at 1 pm with Pastor Mark Schultz officiating. Interment followed in the Iola Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton, Alberta.
