Mrs. Dora Clara Kemmis of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the age of 99 years ~ a short 24 days before celebrating her 100th birthday.
Dora will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her six grandchildren, Gloria Alward (Val Scherger) of Rimbey; Gord (Pat) McTavish of Rimbey; Deb (Randy) Hollingshead of Rimbey; Marj (Dick) Hancik of Rimbey; Randy (Lola) Jaffray also of Rimbey; and Sheila (Duncan) Clark of Stettler; as well as fifteen treasured great grandchildren, Jason (Amanda), Marc (Amie), Trevor, Kelly (Mike), Troy, Bryan (Connie), Michelle (Michael), Travis, Shalaine (Dustin), Kyla (Clayton), Nikki (K.C.), Cody, Shaun, Sydney, and MacGregor; and three cherished great, great grandchildren, Jase, Dalanie, and Kaitlin. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sister, Lillian Tornack of Lacombe; three sisters-in-law, Leah Martin of Rocky Mountain House; Clara Martin of Eckville; and Gladys Martin of Vanderhoof, B.C.; her very dear friend, Ge Hofstra; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Dora was predeceased by her beloved husband, Art in 1982; her daughter, Hazel Jaffray in 2002; her son-in-law, Sandy Jaffray in 2005; seven brothers; and four sisters.
A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Dora's Life was held at the Rimbey Church of the Nazarene, Rimbey on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Bill Nieuwenhuis officiating. A Public Interment Service preceded the Funeral Service in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey at 12:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Dora's Memory may be made directly to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; or to STARS Air Ambulance, Building #16, 29 Airport Road N.W., Edmonton, Alberta T5G 9Z9.
