COULTON

Doris Coulton (nee Calvert) of Bentley, Alberta, beloved Mother and Friend of Richard, died unexpectedly in Red Deer Regional Hospital on Monday June 6, 2011. Doris was born June 30, 1918 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England and came to Canada with her husband Walter and son Richard in November 1953 to Hornby, Ontario. The family subsequently moved to File Hills, Saskatchewan and Longview, Alberta before coming to Bentley, Alberta in 1972, where Walter became the United Church minister of Bentley and Blackfalds. Doris was active in the Rainy Creek United Church Women and the Bentley Senior's Club. She is fondly remembered for her thoughtful meditations given at the Bentley Care Centre. Doris was blessed with an inquiring mind and deeply enjoyed reading Discover magazine. Her wonderment was given poetic form. Her first volume of poetry was published in 2001, and her second completed volume awaits publication. Doris was predeceased by her husband Walter, and by her sisters Ruth and Gladys. She will be greatly missed by her son Richard, sister Hazel (Jock) Rennie in Worthing, England, and nieces and nephews also in England. Doris was an exceptional lady. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Bentley United Church with Rev. Adam Kilner officiating. Friends wishing to express their condolences may make contributions to the Bentley United Church Memorial Fund. Much thanks is given to the nursing and hospital staff on Unit 21 and the ICU for their sympathetic care of Doris.
