LARSEN
Mrs. Edna Marie Hallingstad Larsen of Bentley, Alberta passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, Lacombe on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the age of 86 years.
Edna was born in 1924 in Mobridge, South Dakota to Knut Hallingstad and Mabel Loken Hallingstad Owen. She grew up in the Evarts District west of Sylvan Lake and attended school there. Edna was united in marriage to Harry Larsen in August of 1947. They began a happy, busy life raising their five children and building a home and a mixed farming operation north of Bentley. Edna loved and raised many fine horses. She also loved to garden, cook and bake, but serving others was one of Edna's greatest joys. Although she had always experienced an awareness of her Creator, her personal walk with the Lord began in the early 1950's. Edna was a member of the Bentley Community Church and held various positions with the Woman's Missionary Council for many years. In 1986, she joined the Outlet Get Together Club, taking part in serving her community. Many were blessed by her writings and poetry.

Edna will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children, Linda (Paul) Hendershot of Aldergrove, B.C.; James Larsen of Bentley; Lorraine (Gordon) Connolley of Bentley; Brenda Larsen of Red Deer; and Murray (Charlene) Larsen of Springbrook; as well as ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sisters, Louise Pickering of Sylvan Lake; and Alice Fairgray of Lake Cowichan, B.C.; two brothers, Philip Owen of Red Deer; and Bryan Harris of Taber; and one nephew, Eldon Anderson of Calgary. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Harry Larsen in 1985; her father, Knut in 1934; her mother, Mabel Loken Hallingstad Owen in 1972; and her stepfather, William Owen in 1961.
A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Edna's Life was held at the Bentley Community Church, Bentley on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Greg Rathjen officiating. Interment followed in the Bentley Cemetery, Bentley at 3:30 p.m. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Edna's Memory may be made directly to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society, Box 5576, Lacombe, Alberta T4L 1X2.
