Edward (Ed) Pohl passed away peacefully in his home north of Ponoka on January 22, 2011. He was the first of 18 children born to Adolph and Olga Pohl in Edmonton on February 10, 1920; when asked for his birth date he would always say “2, 10, 20". Ed’s life was farming but he also had worked in a coal mine and a sawmill. In 1994 Ed purchased land north of Ponoka from his father where he and his wife Gertrude raised a family of three children: Ken, Doreen and Marvelyn. After a farming accident Ed decided to open Ed’s Harness & Repair which he operated until retirement. Ed was predeceased by Gertrude and Marvelyn. He will be greatly missed by son Ken (Verna) and daughter Doreen; grandchildren Lesley, Russell,Justin, Steven(Corrina), Stacy (Wayne) and Vince; and several great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ponoka with lunch to follow. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
