PAULL

1945 - 2010

Mr. Edward Harvey "Ed" Paull of Rimbey passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the age of 65 years. Ed was born on April 3, 1945 at Lacombe the second son to parents Jack and Stella Paull. He was raised on the farm at Rainy Creek and attended the Nelson and Bentley schools. On December 3, 1966, Ed married Sharyn Langmuir and they had three children, Pam, Leanda and Jay. Over the years, Ed worked at a variety of jobs. He started working for Hudson Bay Oil and Gas, first in Cessford then at Diamond Valley. It was in 1972 that Ed bought his first quarter of land just north of Eckville. In his decision to change careers, Ed became part owner of the Rimbey Auction Mart. This led to his own livestock business, buying and selling cattle. West Country Livestock continued on as a well known and well respected business. This was his passion up to the time of his passing. Ed had two dreams in life, one to own a bar and the other was to own a ranch. In 1994 he bought the Bentley Mercantile and renovated it to become the Monkey Top Saloon. To complete his second dream, Ed purchased land near Barrhead in 1998 and established the Thunder Lake Ranch. Ed loved to travel over the country roads always on the lookout for a great deal and visiting the little country stores. Ed will be deeply missed by his three children Pam (Keith) Lightbown and their two daughters Sara and Jillian all of Carstairs; Leanda (Travis) Huseby and their two children Brayden and Jennifer all of Eckville and Jay (Rachel) Paull of Barrhead and her son Robert (Miranda) of Edmonton. Also left to cherish Ed's memory are his mother Stella Paull of Bentley; a brother Lawrence (Joyce) Paull of Bentley; Ed's very devoted friend Darlene Goehring of Red Deer; a number of family members and the many friends Ed made over the years. An informal drop in gathering for family and friends will be held at the Bentley and District Agriculture Centre, 5202 - 51 Street, Bentley, Alberta on Sunday, June 27, 2010 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Ed's honor may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
