Eleonore Anne Elisabeth Potratz (Wick)

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Eleonore Potratz of Rimbey, Alberta, formerly of Edmonton, Alberta.
Eleonore (Oma) will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter Gabriela (Ken) Petersen, and much loved grandchildren, Amy Petersen and Kim (Lyle) Beierbach and their children - cherished great grandchildren - Keelie and Kessler Beierbach, all of Rimbey, Alberta, as well as family in Germany. Eleonore was predeceased her husband of 65 years Waldemar (July 2014) and by two daughters Angelika (1987) and Jane (2008).
Waldemar and Eleonore immigrated to Canada in September 1954 speaking very little English. They first resided in Leduc before moving to Edmonton and in 2008 to Rimbey. Eleonore worked for GWG and Safeway as well as sang in the church choir. Prior to coming to Canada she also served in Germany with the Red Cross. Eleonore loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to family gatherings and feasts - especially the dessert.
She was never happier than when she could be doing something with her family, prior to entering LTC she loved watching her great grandchildren play hockey, musical concerts that they put on or anything they were involved with, it was her most treasured times.
With respect for Eleonore's wishes no formal funeral service will be held. Her ashes will be interned with her husband (Wally) and daughters' (Angelika & Jane) ashes.
A very special thank you to all the staff at Rimbey Long Term Care, who not only looked after Eleonore but always had such kind words for our family when we visited, you are all truly amazing.
If friends desire, memorial tributes in Eleonore's name may be made directly to the Rimbey Hospital & Care Facility or Rimbey FCSS.
