Brown
Ellen Margot Brown (nee Olson) passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the age of 77. Ellen was born on February 6, 1931 on her parents’ farm near Meadowbrook, Alberta. On May 16, 1951 she married Ralph Brown, also from the Meadowbrook District. They moved to the Forshee area, where they have resided until her passing.
Ellen will be lovingly remembered for her selfless love and support. There was a genuine desire in her heart for everyone in her life to be well cared for, loved, encouraged, and most of all to know the Lord as their hope for eternity.
Legacy of Love
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife not just as mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
Death does not sever our love for our loved ones, for love belongs to the spirit and not to the body. When those we love go on a long journey, their thoughts can span the distance as though it were a step, and their love enfolds us as though they stood beside us. As it is with our wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, and friend Ellen, til we meet again for eternity.
Ellen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Ralph, her husband of 56 years; her son Wendell (Wendy); her daughter Vicky (Brian) Hawkings; her son Tim (Brenda); 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Ralph (Jean); one sister, Agnes (Joe) Hatala; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Helge and Lena Olson; 2 brothers, Gayhart (Maryanne) and Rickard (Marie); and 2 sisters, Lillian (Louis) Hatala and Mildred (Bud) Lehman.
A very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Adzich and the staff at the Rimbey Hospital for their unsurpassed compassion and extraordinary care given to Ellen and her family. Thank you also to family, friends and neighbours for your prayers, expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness.
A memorial service and celebration in honour of Ellen’s life will be held at the Lincoln Hall on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. Dinner to follow. All family and friends of the family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Box 440, Rimbey, AB T0C 2J0.
