Ellen "Viola" Foster

April 8, 1934 - October 10, 2018
With sadness, the family of (Viola) Ellen Foster (nee Gibson), age 84, announce her peaceful passing on October 10,2018 at the Rimbey Hospital Extended Care Home, Rimbey, Alberta, following a brief illness.

Predeceased by her husband Maurice (Moe), Ellen leaves a legacy of love, caring and family through her daughter Sandra (Foster) Pelissier (Alain); her son Doug (Cathy); 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and other friends and relatives.

Ellen was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 8 1934. She lived there until age 7 and then moved to Coleman, Alberta where she was raised by an aunt and uncle. Later, Ellen joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a communications specialist, where she then met her husband, Moe Foster- a Navy seaman in training at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. Ellen followed Moe after his posting to Victoria, BC, and the couple were married on June 3,1955. Shortly after, they set out to raise their two children. During that time, Ellen also contributed over 25 public service years as a federal employee with the Food and Drug Inspection and Protection Agency of Canada. In 2005, Ellen's husband sadly passed away. She remained in Sidney, B.C. until 2012 and then relocated to Rimbey Hospital Care Home, due to emerging health challenges and to be closer to her daughter's home.

Ellen was a strong, caring, giving, loving and protective wife, mom, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always put family first. Her legacy memory is that we, her family, should always try to be the very best we can be, and to pursue our goals and dreams wherever they take us ....

A "Celebration Of Life" is scheduled for November 24, 2018, at 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, at the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant, 15979 Bow Bottom Trail SE, Calgary. (RSVP: 587-435-6970)
