Mrs. Elsie D. McGeachy (Brown) of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Friday, February 11, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Elsie was born on April 8, 1927 in Bentley, Alberta and was raised in the Forshee area, on the farm her parents homesteaded. She was the seventh child of ten children born to Charles and Amelia Brown. Elsie took her schooling at Centreview, and attended high school in Rimbey. In 1945, she met Bill McGeachy, and they were united in marriage on June 1, 1946. They began their life together residing at Gull Lake, and then moved to Lacombe for a short while before settling in Rimbey in the early 1950’s. To this union was born one daughter, Paddy Lynn in 1955. Elsie worked for several businesses, most notably for her brother, Lloyd at Macleod’s in Rimbey. Elsie loved people. She was a 30 year member of the Rimbey Lions Club, volunteering countless hours for the betterment of her hometown. The Lions Club was a big part of her extended family. Elsie and Bill traveled many miles with fellow Lions taking a little bit of Rimbey everywhere they went. Family was the keystone in Elsie’s life, and her numerous nieces and nephews were all made to feel special by Aunt Elsie. She was always there to listen, cajole, or to hug. For 58 years, she held Christmas Eve for her family ... and not even a broken hip could stop that! Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Paddy Lynn of Rimbey; two sisters, Eunice Young and Cora Allison, both of Rimbey; and four brothers, Bruce Brown of Rimbey; Ray Brown of Nanoose Bay, B.C.; Elmer Brown of Rimbey; and Pat Brown of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Bill in 1998; two sisters, Alda Skeels and Lyn Pecharsky; and one brother, Lloyd Brown. Memorial Services in Celebration of Elsie’s Life were held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Friday, February 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating.
